YHA Festival of Walking
THE WEEKENDER
PLEASE NOTE - THIS EVENT IS NOW FULL!
Join Us for a Scenic Weekend in the Brecon Beacons – Celebrating the YHA’s Festival of Walking!
In partnership with the YHA and Gorilla Mountain Gear - We’re heading to Wales for a memorable weekend of hiking and connection in honour of the YHA’s Festival of Walking.
The adventure begins on Saturday with a summit of Pen y Fan, followed by an overnight stay at YHA Brecon Beacons (accommodation provided). On Sunday, we’ll take on the stunning Four Waterfalls Walk, featuring Sgwd Uchaf Clun Gwyn, Sgwd y Pannwr, Sgwd Isaf Clun Gwyn, and the iconic Sgwd yr Eira along the Afon Hepste.
Please note this route is generally considered challenging - perfect for those who love a rewarding hike and a chance to spot wildlife along the way.
Gorilla Mountain Gear has volunteered to provide everyone who joins the trip a lovely bespoke t-shirt! Please email Kimberly at [email protected] your t-shirt size and what colour you'd like (black, grey, navy, pastel pink, pastel peach, pastel green and pastel blue).

FAQS
Who is this walk open to?
- Anyone who would like to join! Whether you are a member of the M2M community, you're an M2M Beneficiary or you're completely new to M2M, we'd love to have you with us! You don't have to be struggling with your mental health to join our events, but if you are, we welcome you. Just come with an open heart and a willingness to connect. We can't wait to meet you!
Do I need to sign up?
- Yes, registration is essential for each individual joining the walk! Please register by noon on the 17th of September.
Can I bring my dog?
- Unfortunately, only service dogs are permitted to stay at the YHA. However, dogs are welcome on the walk itself, provided they are well-behaved and kept on a lead.
Is this a kid-friendly event?
- Babies in backpacks are welcome, but this event is unsuitable for toddlers and older children.
Can I join if I’m not the fastest walker?
- Absolutely! Together Outdoors is about community, not competition. We always look out for each other and only move as fast as the slowest person. If the group is large, it may spread out naturally, but we'll all stay together as a group. Breaks will always be factored in to keep everyone moving as closely together as possible.
COST
Pay as you feel
We are committed to providing free events where possible to our community, as we believe financial barriers shouldn't stand in the way of participation. If you are in a position to make a donation when registering, your contribution will go a long way towards sustaining the charity's mission and helping to support someone else who is more in need. Thank you!

Gary Davies - M2M Volunteer Lead
Gary is a massive believer in the good of the outdoors; physically and mentally. A huge fan of the Alps and North Wales; having spent many years climbing and walking in Snowdonia. An M2M supporter from the beginning, he’s very proud to be able to support our work in whichever way he can. “Be adaptable” is Gary’s motto; moving forwards no matter what hand you’re dealt, not dwelling, adapt and overcome.
