If you are planning to get there by car, please use the M2M Lakes Weekend 🛶 WhatsApp group to let others know where you'll be driving from, and offer lifts en route where possible. For those of you arriving by public transport, please check on the group to find out if anyone who is driving is able to pick you up, before checking trains/buses.

Nearest train stations: Penrith (40 min drive) or Windermere (1 hour drive)

Nearest international airports: Newcastle (2 hour drive), Manchester (2.5 hour drive) or Leeds (2.5 hour drive)

Nearest bus stop: National Trust Car Park (2 min walk) - 78 Borrowdale bus service from Keswick

Accommodation

Shared yurts at Inside Out Camping.

Each Yurt accommodates up to x5 people - with x2 single beds, x1 double futon sofa bed and 1x air bed. Bedding will be provided, and there will be additional single duvets or sleeping bags for anyone who may need to share a futon. More details are here with FAQs here.

Individual Needs & Accessibility

Activities

This weekend is not fully accessible, however the following details should help you prepare and decide what is right for you.

The abseiling and climbing venues are accessible by car, so the team will be able to give lifts if needed. Otherwise, it will be a relatively flat 30-40 minute walk from camp to each of the venues.

Depending on rainfall and river depth, the team will aim to launch the canoes very close to the yurts as the river runs past the camp.

The groups will be split into four, with some canoeing, some hiking, some climbing and some abseiling - so there will be lots of options available. The weekend is about challenging yourself, however it is important to listen to your body and opt out or take breaks if/when it feels right for you.

Facilities

The camp itself is a little bumpy and hilly in places. You can check the Inside Out Yurts aerial view on Google Maps to see the location of the six yurts in proximity to each other and Seatoller Farm, where the facilities are.

Each yurt has 2 steps up into them. The shower area is accessible to wheelchairs, but the individual showers do not have seating or hand rails (5 min walk/roll from camp to farmhouse). The toilets are not wheelchair accessible. Photos/videos and doorway measurements can be provided on request, please ask Rosie or Lois.

There will be plenty of help on hand to offer creative thinking and teamwork as and when needed. We are up for the challenge and game if you are!
