THE WALK

Join M2M's Charity Manager, Kimberly Ericksen, and Psychotherapist, Dean Cashman, as we welcome the new year with a stunning circular walk around Richmond Park, one of London’s eight royal parks. This trail perfectly combines history, wildlife, and tranquil natural beauty. Start at Isabella Plantation, a charming Victorian garden first planted in the 1830s. Wander past ponds, water features, and unique plants set in a peaceful, natural landscape - and enjoy the convenience of free toilets on site.

Continue through Richmond Park, a wild and expansive landscape established by Charles I in the 17th century as a deer park. Keep your eyes open for herds of deer, ancient trees, and a wealth of wildlife, from birds and bats to wildflowers and fungi. Along the way, admire White Lodge, a Grade I-listed historic building and home to the Royal Ballet School. Built in 1730 as a hunting lodge, it has hosted royalty, Prime Ministers, and even Queen Victoria in 1861.

The trail also leads to the Pen Ponds, two serene lakes separated by a footpath and home to nesting birds on three islands. If you’re lucky, you might spot a heron silently watching over the water. A nearby coffee van provides the perfect opportunity to pause, relax, and soak in the peaceful surroundings.

This walk is an accessible escape into nature, offering a perfect blend of history, wildlife, and scenic views - all just a stone’s throw from central London.

FAQS

Who is this walk open to?

  • Anyone who would like to join! Whether you are a member of the M2M community, you're an M2M Beneficiary or you're completely new to M2M, we'd love to have you with us! You don't have to be struggling with your mental health to join our events, but if you are, we welcome you. Just come with an open heart and a willingness to connect. We can't wait to meet you!

Do I need to sign up?

  • Yes, registration is essential for each individual joining the walk!  Please register by noon on the 15th of January.

Can I bring my dog?

  • Yes! As long as they are well behaved and kept on a lead.

Is this a kid-friendly event?

  •  Babies in backpacks are welcome, but this event is unsuitable for toddlers and older children.

Can I join if I’m not the fastest walker?

  • Absolutely! Together Outdoors is about community, not competition. We always look out for each other and only move as fast as the slowest person. If the group is large, it may spread out naturally, but we'll all stay together as a group. Breaks will always be factored in to keep everyone moving as closely together as possible.
COST

There is no cost to join. If you'd like to add a donation and support us, please feel free!

We are committed to providing free events where possible to our community, as we believe financial barriers shouldn't stand in the way of participation. If you are in a position to make a donation when registering, your contribution will go a long way towards sustaining the charity's mission and helping to support someone else who is more in need. Thank you!
